Koma-Monyou (designed-spinning-top)
The history of the Koma(spinning-top) is very old and it can go back to the B.C. It is said that the Koma began to become popular among the common people in the Edo-middle period. In the era, the koma was decorated in many colors so that it will attract the children. Especially, the deep red colored Koma was popular because people believed red colored Koma protects people from illness and bad lucks. We have recreated the heart of the Edo-Koma-Monyou; such as “Share” (humor) and “Iki” (smart or cool), more modernly. We draw a swollen line “Morisuju “ or “Jiraiya” on wooden materials, and decorate each one colorfully using lathe. Please enjoy the vividness and the floridness of the “Koma-Monyou” that has inherit the heart of the Edo-koma. |
